We need European solidarity, this the common European interest – we have heard this more and more often last year. For some it’s an excuse for impotence, for some a threat and for others a cry for help. It has been repeated so many times that it’s worth thinking about it for a second – is there anything at all behind these words? I say there isn’t.
European diversity is not the multicultural “melting pot” but the native diversity, respect for the wonderful variety of our national identities and traditions. The European identity is not the faceless, unified worldview of the eurocrats in the Brussels bubble.
Solidarity is not cleaning up someone else’s kicked up potty. Europe needs leaders, not sockpuppets.
